Half the slate of the Final Four has been established and includes two teams that haven’t reached this stage of the NCAA tournament in decades.
Houston, the No.2 seed in the Midwest region, will face Baylor, the No.1 seed in the South region, on Saturday in a national semi-final. The winners of Tuesday’s eight Elite games (USC-Gonzaga and UCLA-Michigan) meet in the other semi-final on Saturday. The winners of the Final Four matches will play in the National Championship match – the first since the 2019-20 season.

Who is in the Final Four in 2021?

Houston was the first team to land their Final Four ticket with a landslide 67-61 victory over 12-seeded Oregon State on Monday. The Cougars had a 17-point lead that narrowed to a tie before putting the pincers on the Beavers and winning by six. Baylor was also challenged against Arkansas before the Razorbacks suffered a major drought and Baylor retired in a possible 81-72 victory.

When and where is the Final Four?
The 2021 NCAA tournament concludes with the Final Four and the National Championship on April 3 and 5, respectively. All games will be played at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis on the site’s two courts, named “Equality” and “Unity” to recognize the NCAA’s commitment to inclusion and social justice.

How many times has Houston been to the Final Four?
The Cougars had participated in the Final Four five times before their place in 2021, all before the start of the era of extended support: in 1967, 1968 and 1982-84. The last three were the famous “Phi Slama Jama” teams of Guy V. Lewis. Neither team won the tournament, with the Cougars finishing second in 1983 and 1984. The schedule is closest to the Final Four since 2019, when Kelvin Sampson took the team to Sweet 16.

How many times has Baylor been to the Final Four?
Baylor will make their third Final Four appearance on Saturday, and their first since 1950. Prior to that, the team’s only other Final Four appearance was in 1948. The Bears have since moved closer, reaching the Sweet 16 in 2010, 2012 , 2014 and 2017 and the Elite Eight in 2010 and 2012.
