YouTube will continue blocking Donald Trump’s official channel to download new videos and new live streams for at least seven additional days. The Google-owned video platform said CNBC and Bloomberg that he extended the chain suspension “[i]n in light of concerns about the continuing potential for violence. In addition, “Comments will continue to be disabled indefinitely under channel videos.”

The website initially blocked Trump from uploading new content on January 12 after to take off a video in which he called the rioters on Capitol Hill “very special”. At the time, he also raised concerns about the potential for continued violence to serve the chain of a strike, which amounts to a ban on downloading anything new for a “minimum” of a week. Now YouTube has decided to keep the channel frozen – but accessible – ahead of President-elect Joe Biden’s inauguration.
