Australia captain Tim Paine fined 15% of his match fees for his outburst of profanity to referee Paul Wilson during the SCG test.
Paine’s frustrated reaction came after Wilson ruled out the game when Australia called for a catch of Matthew Wade in the short leg of Cheteshwar Pujara’s stick early on day three. The decision was reviewed but despite a slight spike on Snicko, it was not overturned by third referee Bruce Oxenford.
The result of the exam infuriated Paine, who was given after an exam under similar circumstances earlier in the series.
“Where’s the fucking consistency, Blocker?” asked the Australian skipper.
Wilson was the third referee to controversially convict Paine in the Boxing Day test..
The wicket-keeper was alleged to have violated the International Cricket Council’s code of conduct, in particular the article “showing dissent to a referee’s decision at an international match”.
Paine was also awarded a demerit point, but it was his first offense in 24 months, allowing him to avoid a suspension.
