A potential business partner has emerged for the Texans amid reports of Deshaun Watson’s dissatisfaction with the organization.
According to a report by ESPN’s Chris Mortensen – citing “informed speculation” from an anonymous source – Watson may consider being traded to the Dolphins in a deal that sends quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and additional compensation in Houston. Mortensen, who noted that Watson’s recent $ 156 contract includes a no-trade clause, also added that he was unhappy with the team’s “insensitivity to social justice,” particularly regarding concerns its recruitment practices.
Watson, who reportedly discovered on social media that the Texans had hired general manager Nick Caserio, wanted them to interview Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy – who is black – for the vacant team head coach position . Houston apparently didn’t consider Bieniemy for the role.
Sources say Watson could play hard with the Texans over a trade. His new $ 156 million contract includes a no-trade clause, but educated speculation from one source is that he would consider the @MiamiDolphins in which Tua Tagovailoa and additional compensation go to Houston.

This follows a Friday report from Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk that Watson may request an exchange after the announcement of the rental of Caserio. Florio was quickly refuted by NFL defeated Houston Chronicle writer John McClain. That said, multiple reports suggest Watson is angry with the team for the way they’ve handled their off-season recruitments, which would include ignore a search company to hire Caserio.

Regarding a potential trade: Miami would need to send sizable assets to Houston in exchange for the Pro Bowl caller and his massive contract – it was worth it given their fantastic 2020 campaign. That would likely include choice no. No.3 in the 2021 NFL Draft – which the Dolphins got in a trade with the Texans against offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil and wide receiver Kenny Stills – as well as Miami’s No.18 pick.
Miami would need to make significant additions to their offensive line and receiving body to support Watson, although he will provide an immediate upgrade to the quarterback. Houston, if he claims Miami’s first-round picks, could also start rebuilding the squad around Tagovailoa with targets on the receiver and along the O-line.
