Forza Horizon 4 Racing to Steam in March, Hot Wheels Pack on the Way

Forza Horizon 4 arrives on Steam on March 9, marking the first time the franchise has appeared on a non-Microsoft platform. Like the Xbox version, the Steam port will feature a full crossover game and all of its released DLCs. The Steam version is a collaboration between developer Playground Games and Sumo Digital.

The game originally released in October 2018 and received critical acclaim (including a 9.25 out of 10 of Game Informant), with many hailing it as one of the best racing games of the last generation, if not the best. What separates the Forza Horizon series from its main counterpart, Forza Motorsport, is its approach to open-world racing. Set on giant maps, players are free to move around and complete a variety of race types and objectives (many of which are silly) to increase reputation, buy new cars in an insanely large garage, buy houses luxury to house said vehicles, and more. Forza Horizon 4 introduced seasons to the series, which changed the dynamics of racing in addition to adding some nice visual variety. Over the years, various packs of cars and modes, including a battle royale, allowed Horizon 4 to continue to operate.

Speaking of extensions, Microsoft and Playground too ad today that the Hot Wheels Legends Car Pack is coming “soon”. While official details have not been made available, I imagine it will be similar to the Hot Wheels content in Forza Horizon 3 which included new Hot Wheels style maps and tracks.

With the switch to Steam, Xbox platform-less racing fans have the chance to get behind the wheel of one of the best titles in the genre. Meanwhile, the upcoming Forza Motorsport main game is currently in development for Xbox Series X and Windows 10 but apparently won’t be out anytime soon. Meanwhile, Playground Games also has its hands full to work on the next Fable Thu.
