December 17, 2020 – French President Emmanuel Macron has tested positive for the coronavirusofficials said Thursday.
“This diagnosis was established after an RT-PCR test which was carried out as soon as the first symptoms appeared,” according to a statement from the president’s office. He did not describe the symptoms or their appearance, The New York Times reported.
Macron, 42, will work in isolation for the next seven days, the statement said. The country’s prime minister, Jean Castex, will also work in isolation due to his recent proximity to Macron, officials said.
A number of other world leaders have been infected with the novel coronavirus, including US President Donald Trump and UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson, The temperature reported.
