David Fincher’s Mank leads the field with six nominations, looking to beat other nomadland theater nominees, The Father, The Trial of the Chicago 7 and Promising Young Woman after one of the most unprecedented years in movie history .
Mank is nominated for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor (Gary Oldman), Best Supporting Actress (Amanda Seyfried), Best Screenplay (Jack Fincher) and Best Original Score (Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross ). Golden Globes history was also made when three women were recognized in the Best Director category – the first time that more than one woman has been shortlisted for the category in a single year. Emerald Fennell, Regina King and Chloe Zhao all received nominations.
