Hasbro’s toy livestream today reveals a huge surprise for Transformers fans, in the form of an awesome new Optimus Prime figure. Ahead of the big reveal, the Hasbro team showed off a slew of new robot figures. We got a glimpse of some of these numbers earlier in the week, but today’s event offered a full look.
First off, The Ark gets a Titan class figure in the Kingdom: War for Cybertron Trilogy line. The Ark is the vessel the Autobots used to flee to Earth, which eventually crashed into a mountain and became the Autobots’ base. The new figure features this ship shape, with the blue engines, but can also transform into a sizable robot, which you can see below. To show the scale of the ship’s shape, this toy comes with a tiny Optimus Prime Autobot figure.
The next reveal was about a new Rodimus Prime Class Commander, which came with the Leadership Matrix. The shape of the vehicle comes with a huge trailer which has several hidden compartments for accessories. A Leader Class Galvatron was also shown, and he also has the Leadership Matrix, not in his chest, but hung around his neck on a chain. Galvatron sells for $ 49.99, while Rodimus Prime carries a higher price of $ 79.99.
A smaller Deluxe Class Scorponok is on its way soon, and you can also add a Wingfinger Fossilizer Dinosaur, a G1 Tracks (complete with wings), and a Voyager version of Rhinox (with a hinged rhino mouth) to your collections.
A new version of Soundwave in the small scale Core Class completes the third series. His chest opens to reveal a Lazerbeak tape. Soundwave will retail for just $ 10.
The next step in the stream was the reveal of a new toy line called Transformers: Shattered Glass, a five-figure line based on the concept of a fan-favorite mirror universe. The new line of toys is intended to culminate in a comic book series released by IDW. The first digit on this line is a Luxury class blur, which is based on the design of the G1 film.
The final toy shown was presented by Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes. Sitting in front of them was a large Optimus Prime in vehicle form. When Jason Mewes said “convert,” Prime began to transform into a robot. The familiar sound of transformation echoed as Optimus Prime quickly unfolded and stood on its own! It was an impressive thing to see, and the shapes of the robot and the vehicle look quite good, although some changes had to be made to simplify the transformation process for automation.
While standing, Prime can move around in a number of ways, such as pointing an arm forward, turning his head, and even walking. Prime can triumphantly pose, swing his energy ax, and can even be programmed using an app to do what you ask. Prime offers 25 different voice commands. When told to “ride”, it turns into a vehicle and walks away. The robot is impressive in design and movement, and brings the hefty price tag of $ 699 to Hasbro Pulse.
