The Eagles won’t suffer from a quarterback in 2021.
Jalen Hurts was put into action at the end of the 2020 season, following the unceremonious benching of Doug Pederson of QB Carson Wentz, now Colts, potentially signifying Hurts’ position as a starter.
According to ESPN’s Chris Mortensen, Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie has made Hurts’ success a priority heading into 2021, although the organization is not fully sold to the quarterback.

New Philly Head Coach Nick Sirianni “understands that what the owner wants, the owner gets,” according to Mortensen (via ProFootballTalk).
The Eagles wanting to move away from the real competition for QB are noteworthy, given reports that Wentz was dissatisfied with the team writing Hurts in the second round of the 2020 draft, which led to a quarterback controversy that lasted all season.
Hurts performed well in limited action for Philadelphia down the stretch, throwing six touchdowns with four interceptions and rushing for three more scores. There are doubts about his viability as a long-term starter, but with no competition for the quarterback, it doesn’t look like Lurie and Co. wants to repeat the same mistake.
