With the Buccaneers’ 31-9 victory over the Chiefs on Sunday, Tom Brady won his seventh Super Bowl ring – an incredible all-time feat that eclipses every NFL franchise in league history.
Not to be missed in this incredible statistic: Brady’s teammate, running back LeSean McCoy, who won his second straight Super Bowl ring without playing in either game.
Quite a bit of work, if you can get it.

McCoy won his first Super Bowl ring with the Chiefs for the 2019 season. In his only year at Kansas City, he ran 101 times for 465 yards and four scores, adding 28 receptions for 181 yards and another touchdown. But he only played in one offensive stroke throughout the playoffs, against Houston, and was ruled inactive for the Chiefs’ 31-20 win over the 49ers at Super Bowl 54.
Either way, it still matters; it’s the # 1 Super Bowl ring.
After Shady finished his year-long stay in Kansas City, he signed another such deal with Tampa Bay. This time, he’s only played 12 games all season, including the Bucs’ two playoff wins over New Orleans and Green Bay. Although he was deemed active for Super Bowl 55, however, he did not take a photo. That gives him a total of 10 carries for 31 yards and 15 receptions for 101 yards.
Again: it still matters. So it’s Super Bowl ring # 2.
Not to hurt McCoy, of course. He’s an NFL veteran who played a role in both Super Bowl-winning teams, even though he couldn’t contribute to the big game. Call it a reward for a fantastic career, which prior to 2019 included six seasons of at least 1,000 rushing yards and eight consecutive seasons of at least 1,000 yards from scrum – but no Super Bowl wins.
