NBC’s Young Rock Kicks off 1980s Vince McMahon and Randy Savage

With Young rock, the NBC bio-series about the formative years of successful wrestler and movie star Dwayne “The Rock Johnson, set for release on Tuesday, February 16, additional cast has been announced for the roles of an owner of the WWF 80s Vince McMahon and late fight against the great “Macho Man” Randy Savage. The Wrap, comedian Adam Ray (Spy, The Heat) plays McMahon while Kevin Makely (2019’s Badland) plays Savage.

Before that, he had been announced that Matthew Willig played Andre the Giant, Nate Jackson was Junkyard Dog and Brett Azar was The Iron Sheik. Ever since Johnson grew up in the wrestling business, with professional wrestlers on both sides of his family – his father, Rocky Johnson (played by Joseph Lee Anderson), and his mother’s Samoan dynasty family tree – a much of Johnson’s childhood was spent with these larger-than-life personalities.
