Phil Spencer: Xbox is working as hard as it can to meet demand for the X / S Series

In an interview with Major Nelson, Phil Spencer said that the Xbox is “working as hard as it can” to get more Xbox Series X and S to players, as shortages continue. Looking back on the year, Spencer said, “We launched the consoles and wished we had more, we’re selling out too quickly.” He continued, “I get people [saying], “Why didn’t you build more, why didn’t you start sooner, why didn’t you ship them sooner?” I mean all of those things, and it’s really a physics and engineering question, “.” We’re not holding them back, we’re building them as fast as possible, we’ve got all the assembly lines running, “Spencer added.

Spencer notes that he was recently on the phone with Lisa Su from AMD (who makes the processor and GPU for Xbox’s next-gen consoles) asking “how can we get more?”. It’s clear the team is working hard to get more consoles in the hands of gamers. Supply simply cannot meet demand at the moment, so shortages are expected – Microsoft’s CFO last year said it was realistic supply expected to meet demand by spring 2021.
