Pokémon Day, which takes place every February 27 to celebrate the Japanese release of Pokémon Red and Green, is shaping up to be a big one thanks to this year marking the 25th anniversary of the series launch. We already have saw the logo celebrating the major milestone for the Monster-collection franchise and I knew that Pop superstar Katy Perry would be part of the celebration, but today The Pokémon Company announced yet another free virtual performance featuring rapper and singer Post Malone.

The concert should take place on the Pokémon Youtube, Tic, and website Feb. 27 at 4 p.m. Pacific / 7 p.m. EST. In addition to Post Malone’s performance, The Pokémon Company is also teasing that fans will want to stick around until the end of the show to learn more about more collaborations and surprises.

You can check out the official Post Malone concert poster below.

If you fail to make the virtual concert, the day before the event promises various celebratory activities and events taking place through Pokemon Sword and Shield, Pokémon Go and the Pokémon animated series. It would also be somewhat surprising if we didn’t get additional information on the rest of the franchise, as well as additional information on New Pokémon Snap. Over the past Pokémon Days we’ve seen it all first look at Pokémon Sword & Shield and classic game launches on then modern platforms for even the release of a remake of the original Pokémon theatrical movie on Netflix and Snapchat filters.

The most recent version of the main Pokémon franchise was Pokemon Sword and Shield in 2019. Since this launch, Game Freak has released two expansions for Pokémon Sword & Shield: Isle of Armor and the Crown Tundra. Before Pokémon Sword & Shield, Game Freak remade Pokémon Red & Blue for Switch as Pokémon Let’s Go Pikachu and Eevee. This approach has led some to believe that the next announcements will either be new expansions for Pokémon Sword & Shield or additional remakes of other games in the main Pokémon RPG series. Sadly, everything is assumed until the big day comes on February 27.

Are you in awe of how Pokémon is going all out for its 25th anniversary celebration? What would you like to see on Pokémon Day?
