Brumbies reserve half-back Ryan Lonergan just scored a penalty to win a monster game halfway and on the corner.
The Brumbies won 27-24 to maintain their unbeaten record and give the Rebels a heartbreaking second loss in as many weeks.
“Ryan Lonergan launched a missile! He sent just 55 (meters) in a swirling breeze in the 83rd minute to give his side victory over a desperate rebel formation,” Sean Maloney exclaims on Nine.
“I’m counting 60 on the angle … It slipped a millimeter.”
It also sparked wild celebrations.
“It’s an absolute pandemonium – the coaches, the staff who are all running the field,” said Morgan Turinui, who puts the strike distance at “50”.
“Ryan Lonergan is the hero of the Brumbies,” said Tim Horan.
“An almighty thud. About 10 rebels just fell to the ground.”
