Gaming headset maker Turtle Beach East acquisition of Neat Microphones. Neat, if you don’t know them, is best known for doing fancy desktop USB microphones that combine playful hues with a retro-futuristic design. The founders of the company include Skipper Wise and Martins Saulespurenssome, who also launched Blue Microphones in the 1990s. Turtle Beach did not disclose the financial terms of the deal, but shared some of its reasons for buying Neat.
Naturally, a big part of the appeal was the involvement of Wise and Saulespurenssome in the project. Wise said Turtle Beach was effectively adding more than 100 years of design experience with the acquisition. The deal will also allow the company to expand its product portfolio to include non-gaming devices. “Neat’s technology will further enhance our future industry-leading Turtle Beach and ROCCAT products,” the company said. “Additionally, the Neat brand extends our reach beyond gaming with a wider assortment of consumer and prosumer audio products.”
