Critics have already castigated the movement. While there is an environmental argument for shipping fewer chargers, it also saves Xiaomi money. It can maintain or increase its profit margins, especially for customers who buy an official charger. This could include people who already have chargers – you can’t really enjoy fast charging unless you have a compatible adapter.
Exclusion won’t matter much in North America and other places where Xiaomi has a limited audience. However, that could easily set the stage for what is to come. Between that and Samsung would have ignored the charger with the Galaxy s21There’s a good chance you will have to do everything you can to find a handset (at least, a premium handset) with a power supply included in 2021.
